Well its sunday night and what better time to begin documenting this endeavor! I joined vidavee about three months ago and was stunned by the tech they have accumulated. Amongst other responsibilities I have the pleasure to provide the internet as a whole an exhibition of the tech they built. It is represents a small slice of their IP but I am convinced it will be highly useful, even help encourage in industry increase in video interaction. Well now to get it done. No so big right all the tech exists, still takes time to build/design a good old web 2.0 site. Gotten a bunch of cleaver folks to help. Think we will get them all to blog on this endeavor, might provide some insight, at least make my life easier. Ok so thats it for now, useful stuff to come.

Well guys I think that meeting went really well. If Bobo can create 10 of these effects by the deadline and maybe get us some plutonium! I think we will be in good shape.

Yesterdays meeting got me thinking about what direction we are headed in.
One, should we have a robust system and trust that users will be smart enough to be creative with the available tools.....or two,should we create a turnkey/easyop system that is simple enough for everyone to use.
On one hand, a robust system will ensure those that are creative will have enough tools to keep them entertained and to allow them to show off their skills. In turn, the pieces that are made with our system will be of better quality....but then, will it be too complicated for the masses
Then there is the turnkey easyop, which I take is the current direction we are going for. It will enable the masses to customized content, but will be limited in what it can do.
I'm afraid that with the latter direction, any other company can offer a similar tool and people will migrate. What will make our site special? How do we keep users using our site?
I know for the launch, we have what we have now....but in the long run, should we consider a more robust system....
I think customized content is key. Initially we can provide lots of effects....lots of animations.....and let the people play with the custom content. We can create sets and backgrounds and have lots of characters and animations for people to play with.
I remember chris saying some things about user content creation and public and private folders. I think that will make this site unique. The site should be about the users and the content the users make....not so much what we provide, although we will have to initially provide them with a model for using the technology. In that way, it gives them a sense of contribution and worth in the community.
If we do this right, I can see a whole economy arising even, if we want to head into that direction...as far as people selling, buying and trading effects, illustrations, characters...from their pages.
So those are my thoughts....and yes I understand that I am a creative person and my views are screwed by my creative bias. I.E. the robust model is what would excite me, a creative individual...not necesarily your typical myspace user...HA!
